May 9thAssembly Education Committee Hearing: Join Us In Person!
For those of you who are able to attend the AB2011 hearing in person, please plan to join us. Here are the details:
Wednesday, May 9, 2018 Education
O’DONNELL, Chair
1:30 p.m.- State Capitol, Room 4202
AB2011 will be one of ten bills being heard on May 9th. The benefit of having as many supporters there in person as possible is that when the Chair asks for supporters of the bill to stand in line, approach the mic, and state their name, organization and position, we can have a long line of people stand up and declare their support for this bill. When you approach the mic, you are only allowed to state your name, organization, and position. But your position can be stated as “In support on behalf of 150,000 independent study students”, or “In support on behalf of students who need more equal access to education services”, etc.
Make Personal Contact With An Assembly Education Committee Member!
In addition, you can do more beyond just a letter of support! Below please find a list of all of the Assembly Education Committee members and the areas they represent. If your school serves students anywhere in the areas listed, if would be most helpful if you make contact directly with the Assembly representative’s office, speak with them about how you are successfully serving students who reside in their district, and request their support for AB2011. Make it about what is best for kids! Send them a copy of your support letter directly. If you also contact their staff in their local district office, request to have the Assembly member or a staff representative come out and visit your school in the next couple of weeks to see the amazing work you are doing in your school. It makes a difference!
