High School (9-12)

Giving families flexibility while preparing students for college and career.

Homeschool

Prog_HSChoice A program for students who wish to homeschool five days a week. This offers the most flexibility with the option to customize your curriculum and use extended units for additional classes. Parents are in control of their child’s education as they teach all the subjects and complete all the grading with the support of a credentialed teacher. Families meet with a TLC credentialed educational partner (EP) every learning period (six weeks). The EP provides support for all your educational needs and is a great resource for your family. In addition, families have the opportunity to attend all TLC field trips and special events providing additional socialization opportunities and a connection to other homeschool families.

Hybrid

Prog_HSClass2The Hybrid program offers 3 days at school and 2 days at home. Instruction and additional support is offered through classes in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science at each of our school sites. This program is offered during the fall and spring semester. Highly qualified, credentialed teachers instruct in college prep subjects (with UC approved courwsework). Students use a specified curriculum to work together during the semester. Tuition-free community college classes are also available. This option also allows students to receive more instruction, complete group work and practice key concepts in new ways. Students can participate in special events like prom, Grad Nite and graduation as well as field trips chaperoned by TLC staff (Teen Club).

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

Project Lead The Way (PLTW)

HS PLTW2PTLW enables students to develop critical thinking skills through hands -on project based learning, preparing them to take on real world challenges. Students have the opportunity to create, design and build things like robots and cars, applying what they are learning in math and science to the world’s grand challenges. Throughout Principles of Engineering (POE is PLTW’s high school curriculum), students acquire knowledge and skills in problem solving, teamwork and innovation as well as explore STEM careers. This program is offered at Chula Vista, La Mesa and Scripps Ranch Resource Centers.

TLC is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
