Q&A

How will the three-day program affect school work at home?

Teachers and parents will co-teach English Language Arts and Mathematics. Science is taught entirely on-site, and parents choose their own Social Studies curriculum to teach entirely from home. Parents will receive teacher’s editions, workbooks, and pacing guides outlining what to work on during at home days.

What are the benefits of the three-day program?

The three-day program strengthens continuity across subject matter and provides additional opportunities for classroom enrichment activities. Teachers will frontload the more difficult concepts in class to support parents.

What happens during meeting weeks?

Meeting weeks occur every 6th week, during which time students work entirely from home. During meeting weeks, parents are responsible for five full days of instruction at home, which is reflected in the pacing guides.

Are students required to regularly attend all three days of the AIM program?

Yes, regular attendance is required to promote students’ success in this program.

What kind of enrichment opportunities will be offered?

There will be an hour of enrichment instruction integrated into each school day, which will incorporate vendors from the community and provide unique learning opportunities for students. Each learning period will have a specific theme to guide enrichment activities. Some types of enrichment may include, but are not limited to: art, music, health, cooking, and community projects.  This enrichment will provide students with opportunities to discover and foster their interests and abilities.

What if my student wants to participate in only the enrichment portion of the school day?

Students may attend only the enrichment portion of the school day for one hour per day. This will cost 30 units per class per month. If students opt to take all three enrichment courses for three days per week, they will be charged the maximum units available (70 per month).

What if I’m interested in having my choice K-5 student attend Enrichment for one full day?

We have an interest list for Full Day on Fridays. The length of this program will be four hours (appx. 10 AM – 2 PM) and will consist of 3-4 enrichment sessions, nutrition break, and lunchtime. The number of students enrolled must be at a minimum of 10 students for the program to be held. Please contact your EP if you’re interested in having your child’s name added to this waiting list. This program will cost 280 units per semester.
